The number one reason most people don’t achieve their goals is simple. They are not willing to do whatever it takes. As soon as a little bit of adversity pops its head they quit and run away with their tail stuck between their legs. In this post, I’ll be breaking down why people aren’t willing to do whatever it takes and how to find the goals that will push you to do whatever it takes.
Why People Aren’t Willing To Do Whatever It Takes
There are lots of reason that would predict if you’re willing to do whatever it takes to achieve the goals you set out for yourself. Here are a few of the most common:
A lot of people set up goals that they don’t even care about. I used to do that a lot. I’d set some goals that I wanted to achieve. Subconsciously I didn’t really care about achieving them, it was more to impress people and to fit in with the crowd. This goals would mean nothing to me. For example I remember setting a goal of having 5 employees for my business by the end of the year 2017.
That was an absolutely stupid goal so that I can show off how well I was doing that I’d be able to hire employees. I don’t need employees. As a matter of fact when I think about it, I don’t want any employees. Dealing with employee contracts, hiring, firing, training, no thank you. I’d rather stick to hiring contractors to do the jobs I’ll need to get done.
Lying to themselves:
This ties hand in hand with having meaningless goals. Another major reason people aren’t willing to do whatever it takes is they lie to themselves. They feel their heads up with things they don’t believe based on things they’ve seen or heard. A big glaring example of this everyone can relate to is the fitness industry. You hear a lot of people saying they want to lose weight.
How are they going to achieve that you ask? Well by stopping to eat all of the good tasty food they like and starving themselves. ALL LIES. Firstly that’s a miserable life, secondly ain’t no way in hell anybody would stick to such a horrendous diet. Yet, people keep telling themselves they want to lose weight but keep on eating the food that makes them gain weight.
There are far better solutions, people are just too lazy to go out and find them and are afraid of facing the truth. Which is why they’d rather keep lying to themselves instead of doing whatever it takes to lose that tremendous gut.
Comfort is the killer of success. When you’re comfortable you’re less likely to do whatever it takes to success. Your back isn’t against the wall, in your mind you’re already winning, that’s why you’re comfortable. Why would you risk everything to achieve more when you already got some.
Typically a basketball team with a comfortable lead has the tendency to play much softer than a basketball team facing elimination. Comfort doesn’t give you the opportunity for growth as you’re too preoccupied with living the good life. Pigs get fat, Hogs get slaughtered. The moment you get comfortable is the moment you start falling.
What You Need In Order To Do Whatever It Takes
Purpose over Goals:
Your goals are what propel you closer to living your purpose. When you are sure of the grand theme of your life and what you want to do and be in it, your goals will be milestones along the way to show you that you’re going on the right path.
Once you’ve figure out the type of life you want to live,the goals you set will be directional markers to show you that you’re going in the right path.Knowing where you undoubtable want to be allows you to do whatever it takes to get there. You won’t be willing to settle for mediocre because that’s not what you want.
Unbreakable Self Belief:
The path to success is an extremely bumpy road. If your belief in yourself is weak, you are not going to make it. You won’t be willing to do whatever it takes because you don’t have the belief that you are going to success in the end.
Firstly you need to know that your goals are worth wile and that they’re aligned with your purpose. After that you need to confidence and the skills to execute the plan. Shit will go wrong. It’s inevitable. What really matters is that you persevere no matter what. Lots of things are going to go wrong, some won’t even be your fault at all. Regardless, you still need to have a strong self believe or you won’t make it.
Not Giving a Fuck What Other People Think
Most people don’t want you to succeed at all. That includes your closest friend and even your family. If you care too much what others think about you then you wont be able to do whatever it takes to reach your deals. You will get criticized, you will get your name dragged through the mud and you will have people like this person.
This is a muscle you build up and should practice daily. The best way to overcome this is by making yourself into somebody that doesn’t really fuck around.
