Make something better daily

Dear friend

I’m coming at you today from the same spot i’ve been coming at you since the beginning of this thousand word daily post journey. My bed. Late at night. Well it’s fifteen minutes to two am to be specific. Since I haven’t gone to sleep yet, I’m calling it late at night. Anyways today I am going to talk to you about something that has the potential to drastically save your life and save humanity as well. No bullshit. This stuff that I am going to tell you is very powerful. Like always I’m not saying anything new at all. This is something we all know but fail to put into practice on a consistent basis. The key to life is to make something better every single day. It’s as simple as that.

Make something better every single day

I get it. We all get caught up with life. There’s not enough time in the day to do everything that you set out to do. But one thing is for sure. You have the power within you to make something better ever single day. Doesn’t matter what it is. Aim to make something better every single day. It can be as simple as cleaning your room. The goal with making something better every single day is that you do not let things pile up. We are already in the dilemma of not having enough hours in the day to do everything that we want. On top of that, now lets say you are blind to the things that are right in front of you. Those things that are demanding your attention. Those things that are within your power to fix. You know you can fix them. They are menial little things that most times you can’t be bothered with.

Cleaning your room for example. Most people don’t clean their room everyday. They see it as too much work. The thing is, it is much easier to clean your room every single day than to waiting until it’s a complete mess and trying to clean it up then. Firstly you’ll be discouraged because it’s so messy you don’t even know where to start. Just like cleaning the dishes. It’s way easier to clean up your dishes right when you finish using them. What most people do instead is just let the dishes pile up. they pile up until you can’t stand the cluster and the stench emanating from your sink so you finally decide to clean them. It takes a long ass time to clean a whole lot of dishes. It takes a little time to clean one to three dishes.

Everyday make something better. Doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t let your dishes pile up. Don’t let your room progressively get dirtier. The more your dishes pile up, the more filthy and unorganized your room gets, the harder and more frustrating it will be for you to clean. Fix something every single day so that you don’t have to go through tackling a gigantic monster.

Fix problems on your level

Once you start fixing something everyday. You’ll start noticing that your life is becoming much more fulfilling. The more things you fix, the better you will get at fixing things which in turns means that you’ll be expanding to fix more and more complex things. There is no way in hell you’ll be fixing the economy of the world or even talking about how to combat climate change when you can’t even keep your bedroom clean. Fix problems that are on your level before you start moving out and expanding the problems that you try to tackle. Fixing the little things first like cleaning your room, fixing the relationship with your family and loved ones, or even fixing the problems that manifest themselves in your community while build up your competence in fixing problems which in turn will build up your confidence to be able to fix even bigger problems. Jordan Peterson said it best, don’t try to fix the world when you can’t even fix yourself.

If you want to fix the world it’s actually not that difficult. You just have to fix your self first. That’s the hard part. I know you know lots of people that run away from their problems and focus their attention on fixing other peoples problems because it’s easier then facing their demons. I know lots of those types of people. I used to be one myself. Now i’m taking my own lessons to heart. I’m fixing myself up first. I hate cleaning up. I grew up spoilt with maids to clean every thing after me. Never had to lift a finger. That ship has sailed long ago. I keep my room clean now. Instead of waiting until it’s a mess and then cleaning it. I make something better daily.

How helping yourself will help the world

This one is pretty simple if you think about it. By helping yourself, you are in turn helping the world. By me cleaning my room I make something better everyday. From cleaning my room and keeping it clean, I’ll master that until I’ll be keeping my house clean, then I’ll be playing a part in keeping my community clean. From there I’ll be gradually moving up until I am helping to keep my country clean. After that my responsibilities will grow as my competence grows until I find myself at the point where I am playing a part in keeping the whole world clean. This would never happened if I start by trying to make the world clean. For me to be able to do that, I need to already be in a position where I can keep my relative surroundings clean.

Everyday I strive to make something better. The more competent I get at that, the more responsibility I will be able to bear on my shoulders. The only way to save the world is by first saving yourself.

I hope with this jumbled up semi coherent post I’ve managed to shed light on why you should aim to make something better every single day that you are alive. What the fuck else are you going to do. Turn everything to shit. I want to live in such a way that when I’m gone I could feel at ease knowing that there is less suffering in the world because I existed.

The only way I can do that is to make something better every single day.

What are you going to make better today.

P.S. As you’ve probably noticed, I love putting P.S at the end of my posts. Here’s a TL;DR for the people that scroll all the way to the bottom before reading anything. You can only fix the world by fixing yourself. And the way to do that is to make something better ever day.
