Dear Friend,
The life you currently live is a reflection of the questions you ask yourself. If you want a better life, simply ask better questions.
Don’t Ask Questions You can Easily Google
Figuring out the amount of times people have asked me questions that a quick five minute google search could answer is like counting the grains of sand at a beach.
You’ve probably heard the saying “There is not such thing as a bad question”. Well my friend, that’s just a bunch of crap. There are things like stupid questions. And I’d urge you to stop asking them.
Ever been talking to a fitness guru and you want to ask him a question like “What’s the best way to workout?”.
That’s a stupid question. First of all there is no best way. Secondly, why do you want to work out? what are your goals for working out? What do you want to achieve? A better question to ask would be:
When I workout, I’ve realized my leg side is stronger than my right side, is there a way to train to correct that imbalance?
If you ask your fitness guru a detailed and specific question like that, they will actually be able to give you advice that is tailored towards you and can also help others in your situation. Those are the types of question people like to hear.
Here’s a few other stupid questions in the fitness realm so you get a better understanding of the types of questions to avoid asking.
How do I lose weight? What’s the best workout for X body part? Should I workout in the morning or at night?
You starting to get the picture? Ask better questions.
What Constitutes a Stupid Question
The simplest answer to what is a stupid question is simply a question you receive that makes you go wtf and you want to ripe your hair out. A stupid question is the mark of a lazy person. A stupid question is the mark of someone who is not serious about whatever topic is being discussed.
A stupid questions shows that you haven’t given the subject any thought at all. It shows that you haven’t even started doing the work yet. It shows how you’re making excuses to get started.
Let’s take the making money online niche. It’s full of people wanting to learn how to make money from their computers. 99.99% of stupid question comes from the people that haven’t started putting in the work yet.
They ask all types of stupid questions like:
How do I start? What’s the best way to make money? How fast will I make money? What’s the quickest way to make money? What’s the best hack to get rich quick?
All stupid questions demonstrate how lazy, unwilling to work, and completely removed from reality the people asking them are. Stupid questions are a reflection of your mind state. The dumber the questions you ask, the more in chaos your life is.
The correct response to anyone that asks a stupid question is: ask better questions. Upgrade your mind to a point where you ask high value questions and you actually use the answers you are given.
How To Ask Better Questions
The best way to ask better questions is to actually be doing the work. I’m learning how to play the violin right now. I’m completely terrible at it. I’m still putting in the work. I’m looking at tutorials online, I’m reading books on the subject and I am talking to other violinists. You damn straight I am not asking them stupid questions.
I’ve actually been putting in the work, so when I go and ask questions, they can tell by the quality of the questions I ask how well I’ll be able to do. I ask them questions like:
How do you practice? Is it necessary to warm up before playing? What methods would you recommend I practice to get the basics down?
I am not asking them dumb questions like:
How long will it take for me to get good? Is there a trick to learning the violin within practicing a lot?
Does are stupid questions and they’d feel like I wasted their time for asking them such nonsense.
For you to be able to ask better questions, You should do everything you can to get your hands dirty on the topic you’re interested in. Learn as much as you can, practice what you are learning. Once you hit a road block, ask a question pertaining to that road block.
People will see that you’re actually putting in the work. This will lead them to wanting to help you succeed. It’s such a great feeling when someone comes to you with a genuine issue and since you’ve faced it before, you are able to give them actionable advice they can use to overcome whatever they’re going through.
Stupid questions on the other hand make you want to spit out projectile vomit on the questioners face.
Questions are how you take the chaos in the world and make it into order. Questions are how you build a roadmap to where ever you want to go.
The better the question you ask, the clearer the road map will be. The easier it will be for you to get to your destination.
If there’s one thing you’ve learned from this post. Let it be to ask better questions.
Until Next Time
